It has been over a year...

I can't believe it has been over a year already since my last post.

What prompted me to write today was an article I read on Facebook that talked about balance and how hard it was to achieve. It said something to the effect of family, work, fitness, sleep, and friendship - pick three. It rang so true for me. Family and work is automatic for me and so I have the hardest time choosing what the third leg of my tripod will be. I obviously want and need sleep, I would LOVE to have a rockin' bod and get fit for my future health, and who doesn't need friendship?

I find myself often choosing sleep over the other two. It's an uncontrollable need sometimes for me. But, there are some days (like today), where sleep escapes me, and instead of doing work (which I probably should be doing) and instead of scrolling through Facebook or Pinterest, here I am - writing.

Perhaps there should be a fourth option to the difficult choice - hobbies. Or maybe it falls under fitness - mental fitness. It's not quite friendship - because it doesn't require anyone except yourself. It isn't really fitness, in my opinion, but maybe fitness is better phrased as "health" - physical health and mental health. I think I really ought to just call it "me-time."

Maybe for some folks, physical health = mental health. I can see how exercise can be a form a great stress relief. But for me, it's not just the exertion of energy that relieves the stress - it's the solitude of doing something I enjoy without interruption and producing something.  Just a variety of things that just clear my mind and make me happy. Writing. Singing. Making things.

Well, I hope you all have good luck in finding your balance - your inner peace. With the things going on around the world today, each person needs to find his/her inner peace to survive and be the bringers of peace to each community.

I'm back. And I'm ready to start writing again. You've missed my kids haven't you? And you've not had the pleasure of getting to know my little boy...he's a hoot. So, I leave you with this:

With that, I will close this post, sort my photos, and head to sleep so I can be sane enough for tomorrow's long day of work, then tae kwon do, gymnastics, and soccer...good grief. Why must all after-school activities stack up on each other, but not enough to cancel out each other?

Good night!
